Social and Environmental Education and Resources

Environmental and Social Issues Resource Center™ is a new division of “Black Oak Ridge Productions™” that  will be partnering with several major organizations dedicated to community social and environmental issues.

Our mission is to work critically within  communities and provide an opportunity to connect and assist those who are dealing with circumstances of need or volatile environmental issues .

We will work within the community to help and educate individuals of all ages, races, faiths, backgrounds, abilities, and income levels.

We are an organization designed exclusively to present programs, services, seminars, lectures, counseling, current news on specific social and environmental issues for the inter-generational sectors of communities and provide research and educational material online.

The Environmental  Issues Resource Center is a new environment and water awareness education resource and communications division created to raise public awareness of “Global Sustainable Water”,  our planets most valuable natural resource-in a fun and exciting way:

The internet is changing the way we can teach. ESIRC™ is committed to being creative in regards to reaching out globally to our “Next Generation” with innovated science and fact-based information that can be used in teacher’s lesson plans and student research.

The  ESIRC™ education mission: To reach the global population and improve their level of “awareness of our water and the earths natural resources concerns”.  This is accomplished by giving all educational materials free to teachers, educators and students over the internet. In January 2017, the website will be a centralized resource for a wide range of water and planet earth topics and issues with permission given to download unlimited copies under a Creative Commons license.

We will be adding to this department on a daily basis and we would love to hear from you. If you have K-12 water and science educational material that you wish to share we will be more than happy to place it in the Planet Earth Education curriculum.

The Social Issue Resource Center™ will be interacting with governmental, and community-based organizations.  We will be presenting services, programs and projects for individuals in need,  people living with HIV/AIDS, educating individuals in addiction recovery, assisting with locating feeding and clothing programs, and finding temporary sheltering for the homeless.

We are presently designing STEM education programs and information packages in order to raise awareness of the need of socioeconomic development of  underprivileged  inner city communities.

WHAT IS A SOCIAL ISSUE

Social issues are conditions or situations that at least one group in a society feel are wrong. While people agree on certain situations being problematic for society, many are objective. Examples of such social issues include but are not limited to:

Poverty, Unemployment, Homelessness
Workplace Discrimination

STD's AIDS/HIV Discrimination
Health Care and Aging
The Decline of Faith

Racism

In order for a social issue to be classed as such, it must meet certain criteria:

  1. There must be a public outcry identifying it as a social issue. People must actively discuss the condition, which then attracts attention from the public.

  2. The issue must run contrary to society's ideals. For example, most of society determine that it is not ideal to commit adultery; a lot of people are, therefore it fulfills the criteria.

  3. A significant portion of the population must define it as a social issue. If only a small number of people are speaking out against it, then it is not a social issue.

  4. There must be a way for society to correct the condition. If there is no way of changing what is happening, it is not a social issue.

What Is An Environmental Issue

  1. Environmental issues are harmful effects of human activity on the biophysical environment.

  2. Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the natural environment on individual, organizational or governmental levels, for the benefit of both the environment and humans.

  3. Environmentalism, a social and environmental movement, addresses environmental issues through advocacy, education, and activism.

  4. Environment destruction caused by humans is a global problem, and this is a problem that is ongoing every day.

  5. Major current environmental issues may include water contamination, climate change, pollution, environmental degradation, and resource depletion etc.
